The world's biggest and most prestigious wine show, The Decanter World Wine Awards 2010 held at London's Royal Opera House on Wednesday night, unveiled 28 ultimate world-beating wines including the 2007 Cullen Kevin John Chardonnay which was awarded the international trophy for chardonnay over $18.
The four rounds of judging to decide the international trophy winners saw the Cullen Kevin John 2007 Chardonnay beat the best from over twenty countries including France, Italy, Spain, New Zealand, the USA, Chile, Argentina, South Africa and even China.
Cullen Wines managing director Vanya Cullen said the Cullen team was thrilled with the fantastic news.
"The 2007 Cullen Kevin John Chardonnay reflects the biodynamic techniques used since 2004 and showing the potential of the vineyard in what was a great vintage," she said.
Winemaking legends Diana and Kevin Cullen planted their first vines in 1971 on seven hectares of sheep and cattle grazing land following a successful trial in 1966.

Despite the popularity of Sauvignon Blanc in recent years, Chardonnay remains one of the world's top selling and most widely planted varieties.
The Chardonnay category at the Decanter World Wine Awards is among the most fiercely contested in international wine competitions.
Decanter's team of expert judges described the 2007 Cullen Kevin John as having 'Flavours of lemon, grapefruit and peaches bisected by lovely acidity and beautiful minerality with very good complexity. Incisive and exciting.'
