Renewable energy expert Ray Wills has joined the board of Horizon Power, a state government-owned corporation that provides power to customers across regional and remote Western Australia.
Mr Wills has held a number of senior advisory and board membership roles in sustainability and climate change science industry.
He is managing director at Future Smart Strategies, a director at bioenergy start up BioTek Fuels, and a committee member of the Perth branch of the Australian Institute of Energy and the Fairbridge Renewable Energy Research Park Working Group.
He also has been an adjunct professor at the University of Western Australia since 2009.
Mr Wills was the chief executive and later board member and deputy chair of the recently closed Sustainable Energy Association of Australia, which is set to be replaced by a WA chapter of the Clean Energy Council.
The Perth-based SEA announced it would wind-up with immediate effect last month, citing falling membership and revenue following changes in government policy and economic factors and the reason.
