A successful drilling campaign at White Cliff Minerals’ Reedy South gold project in in Western Australia’s proven Cue goldfields has produced extensions along strike and at depth to the already-defined 42,400-ounce mineral resource at the site.
The company says it recorded positive results from the 2000m reverse-circulation (RC) program, including a consistent 79m intercept grading 1 gram per tonne gold from just 10m. Further highlights include 7m going 1.12g/t gold from 92m along strike and 5m at 0.45g/t gold from just 14m, also along strike.
An 11m hit grading 0.53g/t gold from 209m was also recorded below the outline of the existing JORC mineral resource. Management says the newly- identified structures appear to be increasing in size both in and around the existing resource and extend laterally for several hundred metres to the north and south.
The Reedy South project comprises one mining lease covering the historic underground Pegasus and King Cole mine workings, a granted exploration and prospecting license and four exploration license applications about 80km south of Meekatharra. The JORC resources at the project stand at 779,000 tonnes at 1.7g/t gold for 42,400 ounces.
The company compares the mineralisation style to Westgold Resources’ Triton-South Emu gold mine to the immediate north and believes there is considerable scope to substantially grow the resource base at Reedy South.
White Cliff Minerals managing director Troy Whittaker said: “Whilst the campaign was designed predominantly as an exploration program to expand our understanding of the Reedy’s shear zone and associated mineralisation, Hole 6 for example (79m @ 1g/t) is extraordinary as it demonstrates the system is growing and continuing at depth. We will now review this new information in detail and determine what next steps can be taken including deeper drilling formulate to optimize value for our shareholders.”
The company’s latest WA drill results come as it gears up for a maiden fieldwork campaign at its Nunavut copper-gold-silver project in the northern Canadian province of the same name. Management has already identified a slew of high-priority targets at the operation and its imminent field campaign has been designed to include detailed geological mapping and sampling ahead of a maiden drill program.
A major focus will be the project’s Don target to the south of the Nunavut tenements where samples have returned the highest historical copper and silver assays within the project area.
Samples from a historic exploration trench returned multiple samples grading more than 40 per cent copper and exceeding 100g/t silver. Highlights from previous fieldwork in 2015 returned individual sample values as high as 30.7 per cent copper and 194g/t silver.
In November last year, White Cliff secured a swathe of ground in Nunavut after an agreement with a private party for 61 mineral claims covering 80,500 hectares at Coppermine River. Management says the Coppermine area hosts a raft of high-grade copper lodes that sit along the same structural trend, primarily consisting of native copper, chalcocite, bornite and chalcopyrite.
