CORPORATE event organisers John Webb and Greg Millar were each required to put up a $5,000 personal guarantee that they would attend a court hearing on September 4 after appearing in the Perth Magistrate’s Court last week. The men have pleaded not guilty to Australian Securities and Investments Commission charges relating to their involvement in failed expo business Media & Events Australia Pty Ltd. ASIC alleged in May that Mr Webb participated in the management of Media & Events between August 2004 and June 2005, despite being disqualified from managing corporations following the collapse of another business, Consolidated Business Media Pty Ltd. ASIC has charged Mr Millar, a director of Media & Events during the period, with aiding and abetting Mr Webb. The charges come more than two years after the regulator began its investigations into Mr Webb’s working relationship with Media & Events. Mr Webb is a sales manager at Australian Corporate Exhibitions, a business name owned by Mr Millar. WA Business News under-stands Australian Corporate Exhibitions’ planned mining expo to be held in NSW next month has been postponed until February.
