WA contractors secure work

Three local companies have secured work across the state, with Kerman Contracting, Adco Constructions and WestStar Industrial all announcing recent contract wins.

Kerman said it has been awarded a significant contract to design and build four circular grain storage cells for CBH at its Chadwick receival site in Esperance.

The scope includes the construction of four 20,000-tonne silos, the supply and installation of 500t/hour capacity elevators and four inloading cross conveyors as well as all earthworks, electrical and controls works.

“The Chadwick storage upgrade contract expands on our long standing business relationship with CBH, which goes back to 1995,” managing director Chris Kerman said.

“Between 1995 and 2006, Kerman has designed and constructed many grain storage facilities for CBH.”

Meanwhile, Adco has won a $5.2 million state government contract for construction work at Wandoo Prison.

Under the contract, Adco will build a two-storey gatehouse and sally port as well as realign perimeter fencing and an associated sliding gate.

Work also includes extensions and alterations to the existing car parking areas.

Chief executive Neil Harding said the company was pleased to have secured a government contract.

“Being chosen for yet another correctional project in Western Australia is a real vote of confidence in our ability to consistently deliver,” he said.

Subiaco-based Weststar has secured a $1.5 million contract extension from MSP Engineering for work at Talison’s Greenbushes lithium mine.

WestStar’s engineering contracting business SIMPEC had initially been awarded a contract to supply high voltage and fibre optic cables to the chemical grade plant two project.  

The scope of work has now expanded to include installing the cables, along with the construction of concrete pits where the cables will be housed.

The company has also added $300,000 to its mechanical, electrical and communications  contract with Iluka Resources and Tronox at the Cataby project.

Shares in WestStar were up 12.5 per cent at 1.8 cents each at 2pm AEDT.
