Junior explorer, Victory Mines has unleashed the drill rig for a 3,000 metre drilling romp seeking to grow the already hefty one kilometre mineralised strike defined at its Coogee gold and copper project near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia. The company’s fourth phase of drilling at Coogee will follow up on recent high-grade gold hits including 4m going 9.34 grams per tonne gold.
The recently unearthed 4m intercept from 175m depth also takes in a 2m interval grading an impressive 16.15 g/t gold. The drilling also returned another solid hit of 5m at 5.11 g/t gold and 0.76 per cent copper from 174m.
According to Victory, the two high-grade intercepts have outlined multiple high‐grade gold shoots along the ‘main trend’ at the project, some 350m north of the historical Coogee pit.
ASX-listed Ramelius Resources churned out about 20,000 ounces of gold at a solid 4.7 g/t gold at the Coogee pit before its closure in 2014. The pit today hosts a remnant resource of at least 10,000 ounces at 3.4 g/t gold.
Victory says its two recent gold hits confirm that the ‘main trend’ hosts high-grade gold shoots outside of previously known mineralised areas.
The now commenced fourth phase of drilling aims to better define the gold shoots along the ‘main trend’ and test their extent along strike and at depth. Possible extensions of the nearby mineralised ‘eastern trend’ will also be targeted.
Management expects to conclude the campaign in December with assays due for release early next year.
Victory has so far sunk 122 holes for 16,751m across three previous phases of drilling at Coogee to successfully define a copper‐gold system stretching for more than 1km.
Other recent hits include two thick intercepts of 27m at 1.22 g/t gold from 109m and 31m at 0.87 g/t gold from 150m.
The broader copper-gold system at Coogee transitions from predominantly gold in the southern mineralised horizon to copper‐gold in the north.
Previous drilling in the northern part of the system returned several significant copper-gold hits including an impressive 17m grading 1.0 per cent copper and 1.98 g/t gold.
Other solid copper-gold strikes include 4.77m going 2.16 per cent copper and 1.86 g/t gold and 6m at 1.95 per cent copper and 2.83 g/t gold.
Victory could make its way onto a few radars if its latest drilling foray at Coogee further grows the strike extent and delivers more bumper grade gold for the Perth-based explorer.
