Veris wins Fortescue contract

The telecommunications arm of ASX-listed Veris has secured its second contract from Fortescue Metals Group in recent months, for work at the Pilbara miner’s Kangi accommodation village.

Under a $1.1 million contract, Aqura Technologies will design and deliver physical upgrades to the current network at the 1,850-room Kangi site, with completion targeted for July.

The contract builds on recent work awarded to Aqura for the supply of telecommunications at Fortescue’s Iron Ridge project, as well as previous contracts with BHP, Newmont Corporation, OZ Minerals and Abra Mining.

Aqura chief executive Travis Young said the business would provide a high-quality network to the Kangi accommodation village.

“The contract award is testament to the strong quality and safety record of Aqura in the design and delivery of high-quality network infrastructure,” he said.

“We are very mindful of the benefits of this type of investment which fundamentally supports and enhances the positive wellbeing for FIFO staff who are away from home for extended periods and need reliable infrastructure to support connections to family and friends.”

Aqura, based in Osborne Park, was established by Veris in 2017 when the company renamed its communications division.
