ASX-listed Twenty Seven Co has increased the stakes at its multi-element Trident project near Broken Hill in New South Wales after first pass rock chip sampling delivered a suite of strong copper, gold and tin hits. The results include an impressive 17.6 per cent copper, 1.275 grams per tonne gold and 2.44 per cent tin. The company is now planning further sampling around the high-grade results and will also submit selected samples for rare earth elements.
The recent 152-piece sampling program targeted copper, gold and historical lithium mineralisation by previous explorers.
The Trident project looks to be developing into a multi mineral hub for Twenty Seven Co with highly anomalous rubidium, niobium and tantalum strikes grading up to 3080 parts per million, 1080ppm and 676 ppm respectively, found in the high grade tin samples. Twenty Seven Co says the positive copper and gold assays confirm the potential for IOCG, or “iron oxide copper gold mineralisation at the project.
The most famous example of an IOCG deposit in Australia is the massive Olympic Dam project in South Australia.
Twenty Seven Co’s rapidly developing landholdings at Trident also include lithium-bearing pegmatites that it says appear to be niobium-yttrium-fluorine or “NFY” type pegmatites.
Twenty Seven Co, CEO Simon Phillips said:“We are pleased with these early results from our sampling at Trident which confirm the highly prospective multi element nature of the project. We are very encouraged by the strong copper, gold and tin mineralisation identified. The Trident Project remains significantly underexplored and we believe we are only scratching the surface in terms of the mineralised potential of this region.”
Although lithium and tin are often found together in pegmatite systems, past exploration at Trident wasn’t focused on lithium pegmatites or pathfinder elements that can be used to sniff out lithium mineralisation.
Twenty Seven Co’s review of historical geochemical and sampling data from the New South Wales government’s MinView geological database was designed to evaluate the previously overlooked lithium potential at Trident.
All eyes will be on Twenty Seven Co as it looks to drill test its targets across this lucrative looking multi-element terrane.
