Triton adds jumbo flakes to its graphite arsenal

One of the best graphite projects around the world just got better with the discovery of “jumbo” graphite flakes at the Triton Minerals Nicanda Hill project in Mozambique.

Jumbo graphite flakes along with graphite flakes that can be converted into "spherical graphite" are amongst the most highly sought after graphite products in the world today fetching up to four times more on the international market than standard fines.

Triton’s jumbo flakes, which in some cases are larger than 600 microns, will be in demand around the world because of their greater flexibility, low impurity and myriad of uses including a plethora of electronics applications.

Triton’s jumbo flake discovery comes on the back of their recent announcement that Nicanda Hill also contains a particular style of graphite flake that can be jet milled to produce spherical graphite suitable for the multi billion dollar lithium ion battery market.

Triton’s Managing Director & CEO Bradley Boyle said: “The discovery of jumbo flake graphite at Nicanda Hill is an exceptional outcome for Triton and further demonstrates the world class nature of the Nicanda Hill deposit and the likelihood that it will become the premier graphite deposit in Mozambique.”

The new jumbo flake zone, which was discovered while testing a geophysical anomaly located outside the known resource footprint is in addition to the existing Jorc 2012 resource.

The company’s resource inventory in Mozambique sits at 1.457m tonne grading just above the all important 10% total graphitic content delivering bragging rights for Triton to the largest high grade flake graphite deposit in the world.
