Perth-based explorer Torian Resources has rattled off another clutch of solid gold hits from drilling at its flagship Mt Stirling project 40km north-west of Leonora in Western Australia.
According to the company, its latest set of results include a 6-metre section at 2.17 grams per tonne gold from 213 metres with an internal 1m section going 5.95 g/t gold from 215m.
Other notable strikes include a 1m hit grading 5.57 g/t gold from 109m and 12m section running 1.42 g/t gold from 182m with a richer 1m component going 6.10 g/t gold from 193m.
Some of the longer intersections include 23m at 1.08 g/t gold from 40m with a 1m inclusion at 1.42 g/t gold from 47m.
Torian says the promising intercepts have helped to stretch the project’s known mineralisation beyond the current resource boundaries.
The company has now completed 18,938 metres of RC infill and extension drilling at its Mt Stirling-Viserion prospect, part of the larger Mt Stirling gold project, as it works towards a new total mineral resource estimate, expected in the next few weeks.
Management says the work has led to the discovery of a sequence of down-dip and along-plunge target zones that could deliver more gold discovery following the projected resource upgrade. In addition, the latest batch of drilling results have bolstered confidence in the Mt Stirling-Viserion gold system at Mt Stirling.
Torian has a number of targets at the project and says it is still awaiting the results from eight holes at Mt Stirling-Viserion, 13 holes from the nearby Stirling Well deposit and a brace from the proximal Skywing prospect.
The company says it expects to have its hands on the final results for Skywing in the next two weeks and will subsequently launch a follow-up drill campaign at the high-grade Estera and Tyrannus targets.
The company says it expects to feed the data from around 48 holes into the updated mineral resource estimate.
The Mt Stirling project has a current JORC compliant total mineral resource estimate of 118,400 gold ounces.
The venture sits 8km north-west of ASX-listed Red 5's 4-million-ounce-plus King of Hills gold mine, and is close to several other notable operations including Tower Hills, Sons of Gwalia, Thunderbox, Harbour Lights and Gwalia that have collectively punched out around 14 million ounces of gold.
Torian’s Mt Stirling project sits amongst a sea of heavy-hitting gold projects and with the company’s recent work stretching the project's known mineralisation, all eyes will be on the explorer as it looks to deliver a new mineral resource estimate in the coming weeks.
