Precious metals and rare earths explorer Torian Resources has continued its purple patch of form by tabling further high-grade gold results from recent resource and extensional drilling at its flagship Mt Stirling/Viserion project approximately 40km northwest of Leonora in WA. Notable recent results include 1 metre grading 5.57 grams per tonne gold from 20m downhole, 5m at 7.79 g/t gold from 194m and 2m going 15.21 g/t gold from 195m.
The string of recent high-grade gold hits form part of a 17,500m drilling onslaught and add to a long list of solid results the company expects will give its current global mineral resource estimate a healthy boost. Torian is looking to deliver a revised figure in the first quarter of this year.
The company is hoping to define a JORC ‘indicated’ resource over a strike of 880 metres down to a depth of about 125m across its greater Mt Stirling project.
Interestingly, the upcoming resource estimate will include a sequence of results that were not included in the previous announcement from May 2021. The new series of high-grade results will be included together with the plethora of results produced during the recent drilling bombardment at Mt Stirling.
All 42 originally planned resource and extensional drillholes have been completed ahead of schedule with several additional extensional holes recently added to target the high-grade lodes intersected at both Mt Stirling and Viserion.
Work at the nearby Skywing lode has been temporarily paused so the rig can target higher priority extensional drilling at Mt Stirling and Viserion. 31 of 36 holes have been completed to date at the Skywing lode with the rig expected to resume there after the high priority targets have been drilled out. Results are currently being compiled and reviewed.
The company has been providing a solid slew of news flow in recent months with four rigs on the go across the Mt Stirling, Viserion and Skywing gold targets along with auger vacuum drilling that is extending the footprint of the exciting Yttria rare earths discovery.
Results from a further 50 drillholes are expected to return from the assay lab throughout February and March, with fusion analysis results of auger vacuum drilling at Yttria expected within the next 7-10 days.
The project has an enviable address with several significant gold deposits sitting nearby to Mt Stirling, the most notable being Red 5 Limited’s King of the Hills mine, where a whopping 4.1-million-ounce gold resource has been defined.
Excitement is building now for Torian as the company completes the final leg of resource and extensional drilling leading up to the delivery of an updated global mineral resource estimate for the broader Mt Stirling gold project. With a spate of results that just missed the deadline for the previous resource estimate lying in wait and a truck load of new results ready to contribute – the market meerkats will be bolt upright awaiting the big reveal of just how much gold Torian is sitting on.
