Torian Resources has unveiled another string of shallow gold hits from drilling at its flagship Mt Stirling project, some 40 kilometres north-west of Leonora in WA. The latest results include a 4 metre intersection grading 6.67 grams per tonne from 52m downhole and 8m at 1.21 g/t gold from 70m including a 1m section going 2.47 g/t gold from 72m.
The result from the 4m hit came courtesy of a composite assay analysis. This method of analysis involves merging or mixing a suite of samples to form a composite and then testing a sample.
Some of the deeper hits included a 3m strike at 1.57 g/t gold from 77m that contained a higher-grade 1m section grading 3.30 g/t gold from 78m. Torian says it is now awaiting assay results from a series of holes which are currently undergoing single metre anomalous composite analysis.
To date the Perth-based company has received assays results from a suite of high priority targets from its Tyrannus, Hydra, Estera and Stirling Well extension prospects.
Drilling of its Mt Stirling / Viserion extension and Skywing gold targets are currently in-progress.
Torian’s latest probe of its Mt Stirling ground forms part of a drilling blitz that will see the junior explorer pepper its WA ground with a series of drill holes totalling 17,500m. The company, says its recent efforts are intended to boost its new discoveries, lift its Mt Stirling-Viserion resource to the higher confidence ‘indicated’ category and deliver more precious metal hits by extending the strike and depth of the gold system.
According to Torian, its Mt Stirling project currently lays claim to an inferred resource estimate in excess of two million tonnes grading at around 1.5 g/t gold for a total resource of over 100,000 ounces of the precious yellow metal.
Management says it has now drawn up plans to continue interrogating its Mt Stirling ground, having recently tied down three RC drill rigs to sniff out more gold. The impending work plan could see the company sink over 70 holes en route to an updated global mineral resource estimate that is anticipated for later this year.
The Mt Stirling project houses the Stirling Block to the north and the Diorite Block to the south. The company’s prized possessions, Mt Stirling gold deposit and the Stirling Well deposit, both sit in the former. The project appears to occupy some prime real estate with several significant gold deposits sitting nearby to Mt Sterling. Perhaps the most notable one being Red 5 Limited’s King of the Hills mine, where a 4.1 million ounce gold resource has been delineated.
If Torian can continue stacking up more solid gold results at its Mt Sterling project, the explorer may be well on its way to cementing its own major gold deposit in the mineral-rich region.
