Plans to provide funding to restore the iconic Bussleton jetty have hit a snag with the federal government not looking to provide the full amount of its side of the funding.
The proposed $18 million for restoration purposes is to be funded via a three way split between the local council, the state government and the federal government.
However, on ABC radio, the Member for Forrest Geoffrey Prosser said he doubted the federal government would provide the $6 million required.
"I don't think they will get $6 million for doing it up because there are other towns that require money for their own specific purposes," he said.
Mr Prosser said he was mindful of other projects in towns including Margaret River and Augusta, which may miss out on funding.
Small Business Minister Norm Marlborough said the Bussleton jetty was a national and international icon and all arms of the government should recognise this and be involved in funding the restoration.
