For more than a decade, Fuelfix and Tanks2Go was known for its expertise in fuel storage, infrastructure maintenance, and hydrocarbon solutions management. From its founding in 2006 by Mark Westbrook in Geraldton, Western Australia, the company built its reputation by providing essential fuel storage solutions to industries where reliability, safety, and efficiency were paramount.
But as the global energy sector evolved and businesses faced rising fuel costs, increasing regulatory demands, and growing pressure to reduce emissions, Fuelfix recognised a critical need: energy storage and management had to be about more than just hydrocarbons.
In 2022, under the leadership of CEO Tricia Welsh, the company made a decisive and strategic shift—expanding beyond traditional hydrocarbons storage to become a full-scale energy solutions provider. This transition wasn’t simply about adapting to industry trends; it was about ensuring that the company could continue to support businesses in a world that demanded greater efficiency, lower emissions, and more sustainable energy management practices.
“We saw a clear opportunity to do more to support our customers” Welsh explains from their Perth HQ. “Our customers needed a partner who could help them manage their energy resources
better—to have the right sized fuel infrastructure in the right place, to accurately measure how and
where their fuel was being used and to reduce or displace fuel with cleaner energy alternatives where possible.”
Today, Fuelfix is proudly a leader in energy management, emissions reduction and hybrid energy solutions—serving mining, agriculture, transport, construction, and logistics industries across Australia’s most energy-intensive regions.
This transformation did not happen overnight. It was the result of strong leadership, a customer-centric approach, and a commitment to providing solutions that make financial and operational sense.
For 16 years, Fuelfix was synonymous with good value, customer focused hydrocarbon storage, filtration, and fuel infrastructure services. Its clients—many of whom have been with the company since its inception—relied upon its expertise to safely and efficiently manage their fuel storage needs. The business’s success has been predicated on having the largest rental fleet for hydrocarbons storage within Australia, a strong branch network and a highly skilled workforce. Giving customers the option to rent or buy hydrocarbons solutions which meet their exact needs has helped the business to forge strong relationships and repeat business across Australia.
However, as businesses began looking for ways to cut fuel costs, reduce emissions, and optimise
energy use, it became clear that hydrocarbons solutions alone were not enough. Welsh and her leadership team knew that for Fuelfix to remain a trusted partner, it had to evolve and disrupt its own business to support its customers on their journey.
“Energy transition is not a switch that gets flipped overnight,” Welsh says. “Businesses can’t afford to abandon hydrocarbons entirely just yet. What we offer is a roadmap—helping them optimise their fuel use today while integrating cleaner, smarter alternatives over time.”
This “Two Pathways, One Goal” approach allows clients to maximise the efficiency of existing fuel infrastructure while gradually incorporating hybrid, battery, and solar solutions where practical. This strategy optimises fuel usage, reduces waste, cuts operational costs, and ensures businesses remain compliant with increasingly stringent environmental regulations.

Fuelfix CEO Tricia Welsh
One of the defining characteristics of Fuelfix’s success has been its ability to build long-term relationships with its customers, supply partners, and its team of people. Many of its earliest clients, suppliers and team members continue to work with the company today, a testament to its solution focused philosophy and commitment to putting the customer outcome at the centre of everything it undertakes.
“Our customers, supply relationships and highly experienced and talented team have enabled and supported our growth,” Welsh says. “Their trust has allowed us to expand, innovate, and continue delivering real value. That’s why we don’t just sell products—we create solutions that fit our customer’s operational needs and long-term goals.”
This customer commitment is reflected in Fuelfix’s ability to tailor energy solutions for businesses at different stages of transition. For industries like mining and transport, where energy reliability is non-negotiable, the company provides fuel performance optimisation and hybrid solutions that reduce reliance on diesel.
Meanwhile, for businesses ready to take the next step in clean energy adoption they are investing
in battery technology, solar, and hybrid energy solutions supported by technology driven real time data reporting.
Importantly, Fuelfix is also in the process of obtaining certification from the Clean Energy Council for its battery storage systems—a move that will further validate the company’s role as a trusted provider of hybrid and renewable energy solutions.
“This is part of our long-term strategy to ensure that our solutions meet the highest industry standards for safety, reliability, and performance,” Welsh explains.
As the company has expanded into hybrid and renewable energy solutions, it has maintained a strong focus on safety. Whether handling traditional hydrocarbon storage or introducing battery and solar technologies, the company remains committed to ensuring zero harm to people and the environment.
“Safety isn’t just a policy—it’s part of our identity,” Welsh emphasises. “Everything we do, from diesel storage to battery integration, is built around ensuring that our customers and our team can operate safely, efficiently, and with confidence. This commitment has been a key pillar of our business from its inception and drives our ability to gain customer trust while transitioning into clean energy solutions.”
Fuelfix’s energy solutions are already delivering real savings and emissions reductions for businesses across Australia.
At a remote mining site, Fuelfix implemented a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) alongside diesel generators, optimising fuel efficiency and cutting operational costs. The results were striking:

Similarly, in Western Australia’s, Fuelfix worked with key partners to develop a solar-battery hybrid system, eliminating the need for diesel generators at a temporary civil construction site. Again, great results were achieved:

With strong leadership, a customer-focused strategy, and a clear vision for the future, it’s evident that Fuelfix is not just adapting to industry changes—it’s shaping the next generation of energy management solutions. With seven branches strategically located across the east and west coasts of Australia, and with plans to expand, the company’s vision is being realised: “We plan to continue our growth and become known as the outstanding energy management and emissions solutions provider, nationally,” Welsh says. “We are committed to helping businesses operate more efficiently today while preparing for a more sustainable future.”
As businesses worldwide confront the challenges of energy costs, emissions targets, and operational efficiency, Fuelfix remains a trusted partner for WA businesses and beyond, providing the expertise, technology, and solutions needed to build a smarter, cleaner energy future.
