Tempo wins $5m in new work

Mining services company Tempo Australia has been awarded about $5 million in new work and contract extensions for mining giants BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto’s Pilbara operations.

Tempo has been contracted to provide a mix of electrical, mechanical, construction and commissioning works at BHP’s Mooka ore car repair shop near Port Hedland, and additional works to existing contract for work at Rio Tinto’s Port B expansion project.

Tempo said the variations to the contract with Rio Tinto, combined with previously awarded variations, have pushed the contract’s value from $13.4 million to $34 million.

Chairman Charlie Bontempo said the latest additions to Tempo’s work book highlighted the company’s ability to deliver high-quality services to major blue chip clients.

Tempo shares were unchanged at 3.8 cents at 12:30pm.
