Tambourah Metals has received a boost to the lithium prospectivity of its Russian Jack project in the Pilbara after the Geological Survey of WA confirmed the presence of abundant pegmatite veins and dykes.
The company is currently compiling data on the project that includes the GSWA WAROX dataset highlighting four areas of significant pegmatite outcrops across two tenements at the site.
WAROX contains geoscientific data related to observations and samples collected in the field.
The data covers outcrop geology, regolith geology, field photographs, geological samples, rock physical properties, petrography, paleontology and geochronology.
Tambourah describes the pegmatite swarms as ‘extensive’ with the state database field notes adding that one outcrop contains abundant pegmatite veins and dykes corresponding to elevated lithium grades previously reported by the company.
The survey also confirms three additional outcrops with one described as net-veined by pegmatite dykes up to half a metre wide.
Another swarm was described by the GSWA data field notes as including abundant pegmatite dykes and veins while a fourth is referred to as locally abundant pegmatite dykes.
The company is also continuing its gold hunt by conducting rock chip sampling and mapping at its namesake Tambourah project with four out of a total of 20 samples showing elevated gold levels.
One particular sample returned results of 16.9 grams per tonne gold from an area where no previous assays have been reported.
Tambourah Metals Executive Chairman, Rita Brooks said: “The identification of ‘extensive pegmatite swarms’ in the WAROX database from Russian Jack significantly increases the prospectivity of Russian Jack. Additionally, the high-grade gold assay result from Tambourah highlights the potential at Tambourah. Tambourah Metals will be conducting field work in the next couple of weeks to follow up on these results.”
The company is planning a detailed rock chip sampling and mapping program across the Russian Jack project to follow up on the recent data results.
It is also awaiting the delivery of a hyperspectral study currently being completed by a remote sensing consultant at the site.
Mapping and rock chip sampling will continue at the Tambourah project in addition to a heritage survey to support ongoing drill programs.
The confirmation of pegmatite outcrops at Russian Jack has the potential to significantly increase Tambourah’s profile after lithium carbonate prices today hit a record high of more than US$71,000 per tonne according to the Shanghai Metals Market.
Earlier this month the company added new exploration licences that have more than doubled Russian Jack’s project size to more than 500 square kilometres.
Tambourah may see a solid return for its hard work when the results of its latest stage of exploration arrives, especially if lithium prices continue to hold their record values.
