Strickland Metals will kick off a planned heritage survey on October 9 at the company’s Yandal and Earaheedy projects ahead of a planned drill program at what it describes as a compelling but untested gold target. The company is seeking to gain exploration clearance across priority areas with a particular focus on its promising Great Western, Rabbit Well and Cowza prospects and other regional gold prospects in the Yandal project.
The company has moved quickly to make use of the $61 million windfall pocketed from its recent sale of the Millrose gold project and is now set to launch into an exploration blitz at its Yandal and Earaheedy operations.
A completed heritage clearance at Great Western will pave the way for Strickland’s next drilling program where it is eyeing off a large and entirely untested gold prospect. An induced polarisation (IP) survey is currently underway to explore promising but untested coincident magnetic, gold-copper-molybdenum and gravity anomalies.
The company says the structural setting at the site, largely masked by transported cover, is favourable for large, high-grade orogenic gold deposits. Results from the IP survey are expected within a week.
At Cowza, clearance will mean drilling plans can now be pushed ahead, driven by aspirations the company might repeat its recent Millrose success which tipped a lazy $60 million-plus into its coffers.
The teaser at Cowza is that while most of the Millrose drilling was undertaken on the western side of the Banded Iron Formation, the eastern side near Cowza remains untested and the company believes it has the potential to yield similar success.
The survey will also review the Rabbit Well prospect where old shallow drilling picked up zinc anomalism that coincides with a significant gravity feature.
Interestingly, Rabbit Well lies directly along strike from the company’s Iroquois project and is notable for its 2.7km-long gravity anomaly that coincides with base metal anomalism.
Strickland plans to kick off an IP survey at Rabbit Well this month after completion of the Great Western IP program. It expects follow-up diamond drilling to begin once heritage clearance has been obtained.
The company completed an extensive review of its Iroquois data in May to develop an exploration plan to assess the high-grade mineralisation along strike towards Rabbit Well after recording a solid hit of 58m going 4.3 per cent zinc from 173m, including 4.3m at an impressive 27 per cent zinc.
Flush with cash and free from financial constraint, Strickland now has plenty of options on its plate and all indicators point to a busy time in the field ahead.
