Strategic Airlines has launched an interstate and international service out of Port Hedland, offering flights to Brisbane and Denpasar.
Starting today the airline will fly the Brisbane-Port Hedland-Denpasar route every Tuesday.
It will operate an A320 Airbus with 12 business class seats and 144 economy seats.
Strategic hopes to establish a second service departing on Saturdays from September.
Strategic Airlines' head of commercial Damien Vasta said the carrier offered unprecedented benefits to residents and workers in Port Hedland, by giving them the opportunity to fly direct to Bali or Brisbane.
"Local travellers previously had to fly to most destinations via Perth, which created substantial costs for them in airfares, accommodation and time," he said.
Town of Port Hedland Mayor Kelly Howlett said the new service was great news for Port Hedland residents.
"New carrier routes and capacities have strong direct positive impacts on travel and employment opportunities for community members, industry and the local economy," she said.
Introductory airfares are $399 per person from Brisbane to Bali, $220 per person from Port Hedland to Bali, and $283 per person from Brisbane to Port Hedland.
