THE senate has voted to establish an inquiry into the pricing and competition regime of broadband following an initial rejection of the proposal.
The purpose of the inquiry is to examine the levels of competition in broadband services, including interconnection and broadband services in wholesale and retail markets, and impediments to the uptake of broadband technology.
The inquiry will also investigate the impact that the relationship between ownership of content and distribution of content has on competition.
