National fleet services firm Sargent says it is looking to expand its business further in Western Australia, after announcing it had acquired a Bridgestone tyre centre in Newman.
Sargent, which has a regional office in Perth, said it would introduce its vehicle rental and maintenance services to the existing operation at Newman Tyre and Battery, as part of an increased focus on the resources and infrastructure sectors, particularly in WA.
It will also build a new rental office, wash bay and mechanical workshop to allow for the expansion.
“The acquisition of Newman Tyre and Battery is a critical component of Sargent’s strategic plan to establish ourselves as a leader in the provision of rental and maintenance services in Western Australia,” Sargent chief executive Grant Chugg said.
“It also enhances Sargent’s overall service provision with the vertical integration of a successful tyre business.
“Sargent already has a strong presence in WA and this latest investment not only expands our presence with a well-respected brand but shows our continued commitment to the west.”
The announcement follows a recent agreement between Sargent and Mitsubishi Motors Austrlaia, to become an authorised parts and service agent in Karratha.
Sargent also acquired Karratha’s North West Mechanical late last year.
Mr Chugg said the company was changing its strategy to focus largely on infrastructure and resources.
“With the growth in mining, energy and infrastructure in WA, now is the right time to provide much-needed investment in vehicle rental and maintenance services,” he said.
“Our investment in Western Australia is a key part of Sargent’s growth plans and we will continue looking for opportunities to expand our footprint across the state.”
