Rinehart to join Ten board next week

The Ten Network has announced Gina Rinehart, along with James Packer and Lachlan Murdoch will take up their seats on the television station's board next week.

At the company's annual general meeting it was announced the three, along with media lawyer Paul Mallam, will join the board on Monday.

The Ten Network also announced that Brian Long has been appointed non-executive Chairman, succeeding Nick Falloon.

Mr Falloon steps down tomorrow.

Mr Falloon said Mr Long has the unanimous support of the Board, including the incoming Directors.

"It is a privilege to lead the Board of this outstanding Australian media company," said Mr Long.

"In my role as independent Chairman, my priority will be to ensure that the interests of all shareholders are represented as we continue to develop the Company in its next stage of growth and to address the challenges of the digital age," he said.

In November it was revealed Mrs Rinehart had taken a 10 per cent stake in the Ten Network after spending more than $165 million on shares in the company.

Ten had offered the seats to Mr Packer and Mr Murdoch following Mr Packer's raid on Ten in October, when he picked up 18 per cent of the company, becoming its largest shareholder.
