Restaurants in the Brookfield Place precinct have combined resources in support of the annual Homeless Healthcare Soup Kitchen fundraiser.
Held from August 6-10, the fundraiser is part of national Homelessness Week 2018, and brings together local chefs, businesses, volunteers and members of the general public.
Cups of soup will be available to office workers and city visitors for $10 as Basilica, The Apple Daily, Churchill, Gazette, The Heritage and Primal Pantry each donates a menu item.
Profits raised will assist Homeless Healthcare to deliver health services to homeless and marginalised people in the community.
The five-day event will also feature photographic exhibition ‘Eye Contact’, to be held in both towers at Brookfield Place.
Created by photographer Phil England, the exhibition hopes to give people an understanding of the lived experience of homelessness, one of the key themes of Homelessness Week 2018.
Mr England’s exhibition documents homeless Western Australians through portraiture, and is an initiative of the Perth and Heirisson Rotary clubs.
The larger-than-life photographs aim to convey the humanity of those people who are homeless, and bring about a change in community attitude.
The portraits are accompanied by written snapshots of the individual’s experience, highlighting the story behind each face.
The soup kitchen and photography exhibition will continue throughout the week.
