ASX-listed Coziron has promoted its lead geologist and Director, Dr Rob Ramsay to the role of Managing Director and CEO to lead the company as it seeks to add value to its Top Camp prospect in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Coziron’s board said Ramsay has been a director with Coziron for 12 years and he has played both a key leadership and technical role in the discovery of high-grade gold mineralisation at its Top Camp prospect.
Coziron’s Chairman and celebrated mining specialist, David Flanagan said: “Coincident with the very encouraging CZR first pass drill results reported on 6th February 2020 and the recent nearby De Grey Mining discovery, the Board of CZR has appointed Rob to lead the ramp up of the Company’s activities. He has a wealth of exploration knowledge and experience and we feel very lucky to have secured him for the long term.”
According to the company, Top Camp is along trend with and in similar rocks to De Grey’ Mining’s recent stunning gold discovery at its Hemi prospect that saw its market cap skyrocket to over half a billion dollars.
Hemi is part of De Grey’s Mallina gold project that currently boasts a 1.7Moz gold resource and better still, it comes complete with arguably some of the best gold drill holes of the decade.
Hemi is a true width 30m wide, high-grade gold deposit that extends from 40m below surface cover, down to 130m depth and remains open in all directions.
The latest drill results at Hemi include two ultra-exciting intersections, 44m at 5.1g/t gold from 40m, including 13m at 8.8g/t and 46m at 6.6g/t gold from 92m with 21m grading 8.3g/t gold.
Both Ramsay and Flanagan will no doubt be hoping for results that even come close to emulating those types of numbers when samples from its current drill campaign come bouncing back from the lab.
Dr Ramsay said: “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead CZR as we ramp up exploration activity. Our immediate focus is on identifying resources that will have the scale and quality to support mining operations. CZR has a suite of diverse, strong projects and the plan is to quickly advance all the high-ranking prospects. The recent discovery of Hemi by DeGrey Mining within 100km of CZR’s Top Camp gold discovery provides CZR a unique opportunity to be amongst the first-movers in the re-examination of a region in the Pilbara that is now generating orogenic gold discoveries. I am thrilled to be invited to lead CZR. These are amazing times.”
In Coziron’s first drilling campaign at Top Camp, 9 of the 13 holes drilled to 200 metres on 300 metre spaced sections intersected gold mineralisation at greater than 0.5 g/t. The best intercept was 8m at 10.2g/t gold from 135m, another was 19m at 0.69 g/t gold from 51m and a third returned 7m at 1.4g/t gold from 58m downhole.
Ramsay’s twelve years at Coziron were preceded by over twenty years of mining industry experience at companies with names like CRA Exploration, now Rio Tinto, BHP Billiton and even Gravity Diamonds. He has experience in iron ore, gold, base metals, PGE’s, mineral sands and diamonds.
With the Hemi discovery just down the road and some solid initial pathfinder results already tabled at Top Camp, Ramsay has plenty of smoke to follow up and the opportunity to make the project his own.
