Raine Square confirms new tenants for stage 1 launch

Two high-end restaurants will join a 12-screen cinema as tenants in the $75 million Raine Square redevelopment project, the first stage of which is set to open in September.

Dumpling house Tim Ho Wan and meat-speciality eatery Hunter & Barrel were confirmed by property owner Charter Hall for its dining and entertainment precinct.

Charter Hall purchased Raine Square for $458 million five years ago.

It will be the first Perth outlet for the Hong Kong-based Tim Ho Wan and the second for Hunter & Barrel, which also has a restaurant in Westfield’s Whitford City.

Last month, Charter Hall announced Palace Cinemas would open in September, becoming the first CBD-based cinema complex since the Piccadilly Cinema shut its doors in 2013.

Hoyts also has plans for a CBD cinema revival, with a nine-screen complex as part of the Carillon City overhaul set to open in 2021.

Charter Hall’s WA regional portfolio manager, Miles Rowe, said the dining and entertainment additions would further enrich the CBD’s growing food and cultural scene.

“Our city is currently undergoing an exciting food and cultural evolution, (and) this new precinct is set to be an enormous part of that,” he said.

A range of new food concept stores, casual dining restaurants and grab-and-go shops are expected to be announced over coming weeks.

On completion, the redevelopment will increase Raine Square from 9,000 square metres to 18,0000sqm and introduce 40 new retail, dining and entertainment stores.

Raine Square is one of several CBD revamps, including an overhauled Plaza Arcade set to welcome Japanese clothing outlet UNIQLO next month and ISPT’s $100 million Forrest Chase redevelopment scheduled for completion in mid-2019.
