Online movie rental firm Quickflix has announced deals with leading Hollywood movie studios that will underpin its digital streaming subscription service.
Quickflix said today it had secured content deals with Sony Pictures Television, Waner Bros. International, Lakeshore Entertainment, Content Media Corporation and Pinnacle films.
The Perth-based firm said more content deals would be announced in coming weeks.
“We’re delighted to have finalized these ground breaking deals with some of the world’s most esteemed movie studios and distributors of feature films,” Quickflix chief executive Chris Taylor said.
“Subscribers will have access to great content from day one of the service and with new deals to be announced shortly, the depth of the catalogue will continue to grow.”
The content deals follow Quickflix’s announcement last week that it had signed on with Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Australia to stream digital content to Playstation 3 consoles and Sony Bravia televisions.
Quickflix shares gained 3.7 per cent today, to trade at 8.3 cents.
