Owner of fast food chain CHOOKS Fresh & Tasty, Steven Hansen, has sold the Perth-born franchise to Red Rooster and Chicken Treat’s parent company Quick Service Restaurant Holdings.
The 40 CHOOKS stores will be rebranded under the Chicken Treat name within the next eight months.
QSRH has been growing through acquisition since 2007, when it acquired eastern states-based fast food chain Oporto Australia for $60 million.
At the time of the Oporto purchase, QSR outlined plans to grow the Red Rooster and Chicken Treat store numbers from 436 to 700 by 2010.
The purchase of CHOOKS will bring the group’s total store numbers to about 600.
QSR chief executive Mark Lindsay said the deal with CHOOKS offers many benefits to further the group’s aggressive growth strategy as well as strengthening Chicken Treat’s market presence in what is a highly competitive trading environment.
“The group has an aggressive target of opening a further 200 stores within the next five years within the Australian market,” Mr Lindsay said
