Mineral exploration company, PolarX has staked an additional 15 claims in the heart of the historic US gold mining mecca state of Nevada. The company says it has now confirmed several large gold-in-soil anomalies at its new Black Canyon tenure, within its existing high-grade Humboldt Range where, amazingly past rock chip sampling returned multiple assays going more than 100 grams per tonne gold, including a spectacular peak value of 512.7g/t gold.
Humboldt Range now takes in 333 lode mining claims across the Black Canyon and Fourth of July landholdings, located within ten kilometres of each other.
Mineralisation at Humboldt Range occurs in swarms of high-grade epithermal quartz veins ranging in thickness from 1 centimetre up to 3 metres in width. Historical mining at the project took off during the halcyon early gold rush days of the mid-to-late nineteenth century through to 1927.
The Black Canyon claims sit at the northern end of the Humboldt Range tenure and less than 3 kilometres west of the five-million-ounce Florida Canyon gold mine.
PolarX recently unearthed multiple large gold-in-soil anomalies, grading more than 50 parts per billion gold, on the back of a systematic soil sampling program at Black Canyon. In conjunction, geological mapping and rock-chip sampling of quartz veins was also conducted.
The company reports that a field visit to the site of the anomalies has now confirmed the potential of the promising gold targets.
In the eastern part of the Black Canyon claims, PolarX says it has defined a high-priority drill-target with a hefty 2.3km strike. The target anomaly is reportedly associated with a large outcropping vein system.
Immediately east, field validation has now identified extensive outcropping ridges of volcanic rocks with multiple quartz vein arrays and old gold and silver workings, according to the company. The newly identified target covers an area up to 200m in width and more than 400m in strike length before being concealed under cover to the north and south.
Notably, PolarX believes the new target shows the highest potential for a large tonnage at low to moderate grade mineral system at Humboldt Range.
The newly staked 15 lode claims lie to the south of the eastern anomaly at Black Canyon and potentially cover extensions of the gold and silver mineralisation recognised so far.
In the western part of Black Canyon, the company has unveiled another important gold-in-soil anomaly immediately south of the historical Lois Veins and Midas workings. Rock chip sampling at the historical workings returned multiple bumper grade assays going more than 100 g/t gold.
Incredibly, the company previously reported gold samples going as high as 512.7 g/t gold and 335 g/t gold from Lois Veins.
PolarX says it has observed several cliffs to the south of Lois Veins where quartz veins ranging between 5cm and 40cm in width have been spotted. The entire cliff face warrants further exploration works, namely channel sampling, to pinpoint drill targets at this location, the company adds.
Further south of the cliffs, another prominent gold in soil anomaly warranting infill mapping and sampling has also been identified.
The company now plans to launch an infill sampling program at two areas deemed as high-priority drill targets.
Detailed geological and structural mapping is also on the cards, with channel sampling across the strike of identified vein arrays and alteration zones also planned.
Initial soil sampling and geological mapping will also be conducted at the 15 most recent claims.
Humboldt Range lies in the historic, multi-million-ounce mining region of Nevada, near the Rochester mine where a head-spinning 400 million ounces of silver and 3 million ounces of gold have been defined.
The early signs at Black Canyon are also looking the goods as PolarX seeks to add its own major gold and silver discovery to the mineral rich region.
