Pauline Vamos, a non-executive director of Plan B Group Holdings Ltd and associate of the Australasian Compliance Institute, has been appointed chief executive officer of the Association of Superannuation Funds of Australia Ltd.

Ms Vamos has 20 years experience in the financial services industry, in particular financial planning, superannuation, funds management and both life and general insurance.
She will step down from her positions on Plan B boards Plan B Wealth Management Ltd and Partnership Financial Services Pty Ltd on August 31 so as to remove herself from the business strategy for the Group's advisory businesses, the company said in an announcement.

The ASFA Board has announced Pauline Vamos will be the new CEO of the peak superannuation industry body, commencing early September 2007.
Ms Vamos, who originally trained and practised as a lawyer, has over twenty years experience in a wide variety of roles within financial services. She came to prominence as Director, Financial Services Regulation - Licensing and Business Operations at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), a position she held until 2004.
In 2002, Pauline was selected as Most Influential Person in both the Financial Services and Superannuation Industries by two industry magazines. For the last three years she has been consulting to the financial services industry in relation to strategic compliance, risk management and regulatory issues. Pauline also has strong experience gained from various board and committee positions including superannuation trustee directorships.
Announcing the appointment of Ms Vamos as CEO, ASFA Chair Rosemary Vilgan said, "Pauline is one of the most influential and highly regarded people in financial services today. Her extensive experience at a senior level within both industry and ASIC will provide a unique insight into critical policy matters. Her commitment to practical solutions and passion for good policy will mean good outcomes for ASFA members and the wider community."

Pauline replaces Philippa Smith who left the CEO position Friday 27 July.
Dr Brad Pragnell, ASFA's Director of Policy and Best Practice, is Acting CEO until Ms Vamos takes up her appointment.

However, she will step down from the Group's subsidiary boards, Plan B Wealth Management Ltd and Partnership Financial Services Pty Ltd, with effect 31 August, so as to remove herself from the business strategy for the Group's advisory businesses.
