The head of Freehills’ Perth office, Jason Ricketts, has been promoted to the position of Australian managing partner, following the company’s merger with international law firm Herbert Smith.
The merged group, Herbert Smith Freehills, will have 20 offices worldwide, 2,800 lawyers and 460 partners.
Joint chief executive Gavin Bell said the merger was one of equals and that was reflected in the make up of the management team.
“The choice of Jason as Australian managing partner not only reflects his strong performance and leadership, but also the importance of Perth as a growing business hub for Asia Pacific and its strength in natural resources,” Mr Bell said.
