The Perth Mint is injecting some fun into the world of bullion investing by releasing a new range of collectable coins featuring none other than The Simpsons.
The new series, featuring characters or motifs from the television show, consists of eight 1oz coins and a 2oz coin struck from 99.99 per cent pure silver.
The first three coins were unveiled at the 47th World Money Fair in Berlin, to a global audience of minting organisations, coin distributors, collectors and gift buyers.
The 2oz coin features an image of the Simpsons family out front of their Springfield home, with a traditional image of Queen Elizabeth on the reverse.
Other coins feature Homer and his trademark phrase ‘D’oh!’ and a donut with the centre stamped out for an authentic donut design.
The coins range in price from $59 to $230.
The Perth Mint’s group manager minted products Neil Vance said that the licensed bullion coin will add a fun twist to an individual’s wealth portfolio.
“It is themes and innovations like this which bring new life and conversations to the world of traditional bullion coins and modern investment options,” Mr Vance said.
The Simpsons is the longest-running primetime scripted show in television history.
It commenced in 1990 and is currently in production for a 30th season.
