Recently installed Perth Convention Bureau chairman, Ian Laurance was ecstatic at the result from attending Asia Pacific Incentive and Meetings Expo (AIME) which, in its 18th year, drew more than 6000 people to Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre over two days.
"It is a great achievement for the PCB team and the Western Australian business events industry," Mr Laurance said.
A total of 23 exhibitors featured on the stand, the strongest presence ever, ranging from hotels, resorts and venues to conference and event organisers, companies including destination marketing organisations right through to audio visual companies and exhibition specialists.
It showcased some of the best infrastructure, product, services and experiences available in the state.
As part of the AIME Post Touring Program, WA is hosting 12 delegates from Australia and around the globe including Poland, Russia, New Zealand, China, UK, Myanmar and Sweden on a tour of Perth and Margaret River highlighting WA's best business event product including meeting venues, restaurants and team building activities.
PCB managing director, Christine McLean said there is some fierce competition in Melbourne and it was a real coup for the destination to be recognised as one that is innovative and stands out from the crowd.
"This year the WA stand epitomises the new brand essence of a "fresh perspective" and reflects the Space to Connect - our business events tag line - which underpins our destination branding," she said.
"The striking design combined with strong industry participation from our Perth and regional members have contributed to this successful outcome.
"AIME is an essential event on the marketing calendar and our presence this year reflects the passion and professionalism of the business events industry in Western Australia."
Some of the exhibitors included Tourism Western Australia, Novotel Ningaloo Resort Exmouth, Rydges and Sheraton Hotels, Perth Convention Exhibition Centre and the Perth Convention Bureau itself.
