Western Australia’s best public servants were recognised last night at the 2006 StateWest Achievement Awards, which were presented at the City of Perth Town Hall.
The StateWest Achievement Awards are peer recognition of outstanding service to the community, initiative, efficiency or productivity improvements and exceptional performance in a job role within the public sector.
In all, 33 entries were received this year across four categories: individual category one (employee in a non-managerial position), individual category two (employee in a managerial or professional position); group; and marketing.
The awards are open to Western Australian individuals working in federal, state and local government, or in public organisations.
2006 winners, finalists:
Individual category one
Winner: John Chudzik, Water Corporation.
Finalists: Sandra Frayne, Tourism WA; Janine Hawker, Office of the Public Advocate.
Individual category two
Winner: Roberta Beacock, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
Finalists: Derek Smith, City of Melville; Chris Andrich, Town of Kwinana.
Group category
Winner: Kaleeya Hospital Maternity Unit Project Team.
Finalists: Gnowangerup Works Crew, Shire of Gnowangerup; Better Beginnings Team, State Library of Western Australia.
Marketing category
Winner: ‘No more Violence, We’re Breaking the Silence’, Department of Community Development.
Finalists: Online Marketing Team, Tourism WA, ‘Pubs, Clubs and Nightclubs Go Smoke Free’, Department of Health.
