The Packer family and Crown Resorts have committed $1 million to secure a key act for the 2015 Perth International Arts Festival.
It comes two days after the parties announced they had created a $200 million National Philanthropic Fund to support arts and indigenous education in Australia.
The Crown foundation today confirmed the fund would commit $1 million to ensure the French street theatre company Royal De Luxe would join the cast for PIAF next year.
There was doubt over whether the company would be coming to Perth to present its show ‘The Giants’ as it needed additional funding above that available to secure its spot.
Chief executive of Crown Resorts Barry Felstead welcomed the commitment.
“I am delighted that Crown Resorts Foundation has chosen this project as its first WA arts partnership,” Mr Felstead said.
“The spectacle that is The Giants needed additional vital funding in order to secure its inclusion in the Perth Festival program and we are extremely excited that Crown’s newly announced National Philanthropic Fund has been able to help secure the event.”
