Pacific wins power station contract with Westgold

Perth-based Pacific Energy has won a contract to build and operate a five-megawatt power station at a gold mine near Meekatharra for an undisclosed sum.

Pacific said that, under the contract with Westgold Resources, it would build, own and maintain the diesel-fuelled power station at the Fortnum gold project for an initial five-year term.

The contract will run for an initial five years, subject to early termination and purchase options, with commissioning of the station expected to be completed by the end of next month.

The value of the contract was not disclosed.

“We are grateful for the award of the Fortnum contract to Pacific by Westgold,” Pacific managing director James Cullen said in a statement.

“This is now our third operating power station with Westgold and we look forward to continuing the relationship with the delivery of reliable, fuel efficient electricity at all three sites.”

Pacific shares were 2.3 per cent higher to 64.5 cents each at 10:45am.
