Henderson-based plastic manufacturing business Omni Manufacturing Pty Ltd has moved into the water tank market with the recent purchase of WA Poly Tanks.
The acquisition provides the combined group with the ability to supply tanks with capacity from 200 litres to 25,000 litres.
Omni Manufacturing’s co-director Patrick Maingard said WA Poly Tanks was now part of the Omni Group but was a separate entity trading as a partnership.
“WA Poly is one of the most well-established tank manufacturers in Western Australia,” Mr Maingard told WA Business News.
“The acquisition gives us access to the water tank market but it also allows us to embark on larger projects given the synergy with our existing custom moulding business.
“The purchase was negotiated directly between vendor and ourselves and was the result of about four months of negotiation.”
Mr Maingard said the acquisition increased the combined company’s production capacity, allowing them to concentrate on developing larger products.
“In terms of expanding the business it gives us an additional 30 per cent capacity,” he said.
WA Poly Tanks was owned by Arnold Dammers, who will play a consultative role with the combined business in the co-development of several new products.
Omni Manufacturing is in the Marine Industrial precinct of Henderson, south of Perth, and is jointly managed by Patrick Maingard, Gary Brockman and Luc Maingard. The company was founded in regional Western Australia and was initially focused on the agricultural sector.
After relocating to Perth in 1997, Omni Manufacturing began developing products and services to accommodate a wider range of clients.
The company uses the rotational moulding process to produce their products, with tooling costs generally cheaper than other methods of plastic forming.
Apart from water tanks, Omni Manufacturing’s plastic products include temporary road barriers, bulk bins (designed for most industries including wine and aquaculture) and industrial waste bin lids.
The company majority-owns Perimeter Outdoor Security Systems, which has developed a cost-effective security system, Perimeter Guard, as an alternative to existing perimeter security systems, such as external video surveillance and point-to-point photo-electric beams.
The Perimeter Guard was runner-up at the Australian Security Industry Association’s annual trade show in Sydney.
