FLEDGING olive oil producer Olea Australis is closing down its Melbourne operations to focus on consolidating its Dandaragan Estate operation.
The move coincides with the announcement that Olea’s Perth head office will move to the Dandaragan property.
Speaking at the company’s annual general meeting this week, incoming managing director Chris Perrott said the company would establish a bottling operation, currently housed in Victoria, within the existing property at Dandaragan.
He said closing the Melbourne operation would lead to $900,000 in cost savings.
Mr Perrott said Olea would be rationalising its marketing expenditure, which accounted for $1.5 million last year, and improve corporate overhead costs. Mr Perrott was appointed on November 2 following management problems earlier this year.
Olea chief executive Geoff Newing resigned on Monday this week.
Mr Perrott was formerly chief executive of the Potato Marketing Corporation of Australia.
