WA internet data centre WiredCity Pty Ltd has been acquired by OSI Software Incorporated from listed Perth company, Gippsland Limited.
OSI was founded in 1980 by Dr Patrick Kennedy and Richard A. Sara, and last year earned US$12 million pre-tax on world sales of US$63 million.
OSI claims to be a global player in the manufacture of sophisticated database software and is known for its development of a time-series database which became the Plant Information System (PI). The PI System has been OSI’s flagship product since and today, over 2000 PI Systems are installed throughout the world.
OSI has a strong view on the potential growth of the enhanced data services market in Australia and Asia over the next three years and the commitment required to fully exploit this opportunity and attain market share.
Chris Farquhar, founder and CEO of WiredCity, will remain as CEO.
“ WiredCity now has the substantial financial and management support to become a significant player in the IT industry,” Mr Farquhar said.
