Nuheara has announced a direct-to-consumer retail partnership with US-based pharmacy chain Walgreens, with its smart hearing products the only of its sort available from the retailer.
The retailer, which operates in all 50 US states, interacts with around 8 million customers a day across its physical and online stores, with Nuheara chief executive Justin Miller saying the relationship would drive global awareness for the company.
“This relationship is another important marker in that journey and fulfils the unmet need of offering smart hearing solutions as an alternative to expensive legacy hearing solutions,” said Mr Miller.
“In 2020, with the implementation of new over-the-counter hearing aid regulations, together with our new products, we trust this will be the start of [a] new era in US hearing retail.”
Nuheara had previously won a two-year contract in 2018 to provide the UK’s National Health Service with its IQbuds Boost for adults and children suffering moderate hearing loss.
That contract was terminated in March, after its UK distributor Puretone advised the company its product was placed under the niche innovation category.
Nuheara listed on the ASX in 2010, and was a 2017 Rising Star winner.
Former Navitas managing director David Buckingham was appointed to the board as a non-executive director in October.
