Nuheara’s wireless headphones enable users to control certain levels of sound in noisy environments, such as at a live football game, where crowd noise can be turned down and conversation with a fellow spectator can be balanced with commentary streamed live through the headphones.
The ASX-listed company, which is headquartered in Perth and has a sales and marketing office in the US, released its device, IQbuds, in January this year.
Within the first 30 days, Nuheara sold $1 million worth of product and has already secured distributor and retail partnerships across the US and the UK – impressive results for an emerging tech business founded just two years ago.
Now in their 14th year, the Rising Stars awards recognise the achievements of the state’s fastest growing privately owned companies.
Entrants were judged across a number of metrics, including revenue and staff growth, as well as digital statistics such as usage, web traffic and app downloads.
Businesses also needed to present a solid growth strategy and commitment to continued growth to become a Rising Stars finalist.
Other organisations shortlisted for the overall prize in 2017 were, hygiene consumables supplier Abco Products, organisational consultancy firm PeopleSense, and Quality Printers and Cartridges.
The remaining category winners were family business Camera Electronic, Passing Paws Pet Cremations, Kwik-Zip, partly Aboriginal-owned Wattnow Electrical, and marine services company TAMS Group, which has now won three Rising Stars awards.
Site Services Holdings won the 2017 People’s Choice award.
