SIDS and Kids Western Australia is a not-for-profit organisation started in the 1970s as a mutual support group for bereaved SIDS parents and families. In 1979, the group formed the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation, and in 2000 joined with the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Support group (SANDS) to form SIDS and Kids. The organisation relies on funds raised mainly through the SIDS and Kids fundraiser, Red Nose Day, product sales and tax-deductable donations. It operates with a small staff of 10 employees, relying on volunteer support.
