NewSat has announced a new million dollar deal with Amstar Communications, to provide vital services to the Gorgon Project, one of the world's largest natural gas projects.
NewSat will provide communications via satellite to Amstar, delivering services to operational and administrative aspects of the project, as well as personal services for more than 600 staff living on-site.
NewSat Chief Executive Officer Adrian Ballintine said that NewSat was pleased to be working with Amstar again, on a project that allows both entities to offer their significant experience and expertise to one of Australia's most important resource projects.
"We already play a crucial role in servicing the Gorgon Project. It's a major part of what we do and we are very good at it," Mr Ballintine said.
"Together with Amstar we will provide world class communications technology and expertise, which is exactly what a complex project, like Gorgon, requires to succeed."
"This is the fourth contract we have entered into with Amstar over the past 12 months, and we're very pleased with the relationship we are building."
Amstar Commercial Manager Daniel Garnsey said that Amstar and NewSat had established a good working relationship over time, which is what made the Gorgon contract a good fit.
"NewSat are an obvious choice for a "Greenfields" project like this that requires multiple communications solutions," Mr Garnsey said.
"They have a proven track record in delivering on service-level agreements, as well as providing unrivalled after-market support.
"Most importantly, NewSat are extremely reliable when it comes to bandwidth and operational delivery, which was of vital importance for Amstar when looking for a wholesale provider."
Mr Garnsey explained that while Amstar remained highly competitive in the market place, NewSat were one of their predominant partners and the business was looking forward to working with NewSat on future ventures.
The Gorgon Project is a development of the Gorgon Area Gas fields, off the north-west coast of Australia involving the construction of a 15 million tonne per annum Liquefied Natural Gas plant with the capacity to provide 300 terajoules per day to Western Australia.
