THE West Australian Opera has secured a season sponsor for its upcoming production The Abduction from the Seraglio.
European Nickel PLC was signed as a sponsor recently and, according to West Australian Opera general manager Carolyn Chard, this will help the organisation forge ahead with new productions.
“Arts sponsorship is becoming increasingly competitive, not only in this State but nationally and internationally, and yet it is vital to the arts,” Ms Chard said.
“Sponsors play a critical role, particularly in bringing the operatic repertoire to life.
“In 2004 West Australian Opera will be expanding the main house season to bring four operas to Perth audiences, and we are delighted to be able to establish new sponsorship relationships at such an exciting time for the company.”
The Abduction from the Seraglio will be performed at His Majesty’s Theatre at the end of October and will be the third main house season for West Australian Opera this year.
