Fremantle Ports' general manager strategic and commercial development Chris Leatt-Hayter has been promoted to chief executive, taking over from Kerry Sanderson.
Mr Leatt-Hayter fills the vacancy left by Mrs Kerry Sanderson who, after 17 years with Fremantle Ports, is now Agent General for Western Australia, based in London.
Mr Leatt-Hayter has been Fremantle Ports' General Manager Strategic and Commercial Development for the past 13 years. Before joining Fremantle Ports in 1992 he worked in the State Treasury and later the WA Department of Transport.
Alan Birchmore said Chris Leatt-Hayter had the credentials to make an excellent leader for Fremantle Ports.
"His commercial background, industry knowledge and strategic skills equip him well for his new role.
"Efficient operations and appropriate forward planning are essential to ensure that current and future trade needs through the port are met. The appointment of Chris Leatt-Hayter supports those goals," the Chairman said.
"Chris Leatt-Hayter has been a key figure in the major initiatives undertaken by the port over the last decade and his knowledge and experience will be invaluable in ensuring the port's ongoing success.
"Customer focus is one of his strengths and he is committed to working closely with all customers and stakeholders.
"We are delighted with this appointment."
