NRW Holdings appoints female director

NRW Holdings, which had been one of just six ASX 200 companies without a female director, has appointed Fiona Murdoch to its board.

Ms Murdoch is a non-executive director at Metro Mining and KGL Resources.

She serves on the board of Building Queensland and the joint venture committee for the West Pilbara Iron Ore project.

Before becoming a professional non-executive director, Ms Murdoch served as director of metallurgical services and technology company Core Resources. 

NRW Holdings chair Michael Arnett said Ms Murdoch brought a range of executive management, commercial and governance experience to the NRW board.

“Together with my fellow directors, I look forward to working with Fiona as we continue to build what is now one of the largest mining service companies in Australia,” he said.

In 2015, the Australian Institute of Company Directors set a target for women to fill 30 per cent of board positions at ASX 200 companies by 2018.

The target was achieved a year behind schedule, in December of 2019.

Although the overall target has been achieved, updated data in February suggested 100 companies had not met the target, 35 companies had one woman on their board, and five companies had none.

Silver Lake Resources is now the only WA company in the ASX 200 to have no female board members.
