NPJV wins Maca contract

A joint venture between indigenous group Njamal Services and Pilbara Resource Group has added to its work book as a sub-contractor to MACA on a major lithium project.

NPJV won a competitive tender to supply and construct permanent onsite facilities for Maca at Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora mine, 120 kilometres from Port Hedland.

The facilities include workshops, stores, fuel tanks, administration and meeting rooms and crib-rooms.

The contract builds on NPJV’s existing relationship with Maca, which began last year with the supply of civil and labour hire support.

NPJV also has a 12-month labour contract with BGC Contracting at the Mt Webber iron ore mine in the Pilbara.

Managing director Scott Dryland said up to 12 NPJV employees would be involved in the Maca project, which was won after the tender process assessed both pricing and technical capability.

“While our track record speaks for itself, we understand the requirements of competitive tendering and the fact that we need to be able to deliver to the highest levels for clients,” he said.

“I believe it’s our continuous training program, commitment to best-practice business management and industry knowhow that is setting us apart from the competition.”

Mr Dryland said the company had started to receive approaches from companies operating beyond the Pilbara.

“There’s definitely some exciting opportunities ahead and we are looking forward to expanding our operations and our footprint in 2018," he said.

Fourteen families form the Njamal people, who are the traditional owners of the land stretching east of South Hedland, past Marble Bar and out to Wandanyaon the Great Sandy Desert.
