Moonlight Cinema, owner of the popular Perth outdoor cinema in Kings Park, has been purchased by Amalgamated Holdings Limited in a deal worth $1.75 million.
AHL bought Moonlight's national chain of five outdoor cinemas from regional television and radio broadcaster Prime Media Group.
AHL, a publicly listed entertainment, hospitality and leisure operator, announced the acquisition today, adding to its existing Australian cinema circuit which currently operates under the brand names of Event Cinemas, Greater Union and Birch Carroll & Coyle.
The sale, subject to certain conditions, is expected to settle in about six weeks.
Moonlight Cinema is an outdoor cinema operation with five sites screening films in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Adelaide during the three month summer season.
Publicly listed Prime Media commenced as a "free-to-air" television broadcaster before recently diversifying its operations in radio broadcasting and digital new media.
