Monadelphous wins $104m South Flank contract

Monadelphous has won a second contract for BHP Group's South Flank iron ore project, just over a month after it secured an $108 million contract at the site.

Under the contract, Monadelphous will be responsible for structural, mechanical, piping and electrical and instrumentation works for South Flank’s inflow infrastructure of primary crushers and overland conveyors.

Work is expected to start immediately and be completed by March 2021.

In February, the Perth-based contractor was awarded a similar scope on the outflow infrastructure of train loadout facilities and stockyard conveyors for $108 million.

Monadelphous managing director Rob Velletri said the company could realise efficiencies from having two packages of South Flank work.

“We are pleased to secure further work on this significant project and look forward to continuing our long track record of successfully working with BHP,” he said.

Last month, the Victoria Park-based contractor won works related to structural, mechanical, piping, electrical and instrumentation associated with South Flank's outflow infrastructure, and said the contract should provide around 400 jobs.
