Monadelphous JV in wind farm job

Monadelphous Group will share in a $430 million contract to deliver the 270 megawatt Sapphire wind farm in NSW through its joint venture with ZEM Energy.

The joint venture, named Zenviron, said today its consortium with wind energy solutions business Vestas had been awarded the contract to build the wind farm, after being named preferred tenderer for the job in late July.

Zenviron will carry out the civil and electrical components of plant works at the project, while Vestas will supply and install the wind turbines.

Zenviron’s share of the work is estimated at 20 per cent, with Monadelphous likely to reap $47.3 million worth of that work through its 55 per cent stake in the joint venture.

The Sapphire wind farm, which has the potential to be the largest capacity wind farm in NSW when completed in 2018, is owned by funds managed by Partners Group.

The project’s developer, CWP Renewables, holds a minority stake.
