Midwest Corporation Ltd has awarded the $3 million contract for the rail installation at Tilley Siding to WestNet Rail Pty Ltd.
WestNet Rail Pty Ltd is anticipated to commence on-site works on or near September 8 for a six week construction project. Rail has already been delivered to the site.
Midwest Chief Executive Bryan Oliver said the cost of the rail installation contract is almost $3 million and follows a competitive tender process.
“This contract is the final step in moving Midwest haulage from road to rail. Midwest already has 64 rail wagons and all track materials. The completion of the road to rail transition will be welcomed by everyone involved”, Mr. Oliver said.
Midwest now looks forward to receiving approvals from the State Government to enable mining operations to begin at Koolanooka and for Midwest to resume ore shipments from the Geraldton port.
