Recently renamed Meeka Metals continues to return high-grade results at its Murchison project in Western Australia, with shallow air-core drilling intersecting thick gold zones at its St Anne’s prospect.
The prospect is about 3km south of Meeka’s Turnberry deposit that has a mineral resource of 11.3 million tonnes grading 1.7 grams per tonne for 610,000 ounces of gold.
Assay highlights from St Anne’s show a 32m intersection going 2.2 g/t from 48m including 20m at 3.31 g/t gold.
Further results include another 32m intercept reading 2.03 g/t from 44m including 16m at 3.59 g/t gold whilst a third hole reported a 28m section at 1.47 g/t from 28m including an 8m intersection recording 3.46 g/t gold.
The latest assays are from a 25-hole program the company completed last month.
The company says the latest results have confirmed gold mineralisation over a 1km strike length at St Anne’s across a 7km gold shear system that also hosts its Turnberry deposit.
Meeka Metals Managing Director, Tim Davidson said: “The persistent return of shallow, high-grade assays from our Murchison Gold Project reinforces the exceptional growth opportunity. Results are showing St Anne’s has good geological and grade continuity and drilling continues to expand the footprint of this high-grade system.”
The company says its latest air-core figures build on the shallow high-grade gold at St Anne’s reported in January that delivered assay results of 24m at 4.81g/t gold from 68m in addition to 36m running 1.02gt gold from 24m.
Mineralisation at St Anne’s remains open and extensional hole drilling to the north and south is currently underway.
Meeka says the latest thick gold zones discovered at its prospect will be included in the mineral resource update that is scheduled for later this year.
The most recent figures will add weight to Meeka’s case the deposit presents a golden opportunity for open-pit mining followed by an underground option.
The ASX-listed explorer recently changed its name from Meeka Gold after it discovered it owned rare earths from its gold explorations at its Circle Valley project near Esperance, on WA’s south coast.
Following the initial rare earths discovery, Meeka Metals pegged its Cascade project –2200 square kilometres of tenure about 50km to the south-west of Circle Valley and 35km west of Esperance.
